Churro Cocktail

The Churro Cocktail is my summer fling.  Everyone has a summer fling or at least that’s what I hear.  I don’t hang flings I have a grab em and hold em until they move out of the city thing.

The trains in New York smell of armpit and hot feet.  That’s a sure indication that summer is at its peak.  Which reminds me to let you know.  If you are going to wear sandals in the summer.  Please for the love and respect of everyone that has to look at your feet.  Get a pedicure and clean them dogs up. You can get a pedicure for $20.  I’m sure you dropped more than that on drinks and dinner last night.

Me personally, I live for the summer time!  You wouldn’t think that by looking at me but it’s true.  I love the sun.  I can’t get enough of it.  I look for it, I run towards it, I talk about it, I plan my vacations where it’s warm.  Sadly though, the sun is like my ex.  I love the hell out of him but he hates me.  Doesn’t stop me though.

One of my favorite things to do in the summer here in New York is lay in the park. I live near Astoria Park in Queens but occasionally you’ll find me in Central Park. If you love to people watch like I do, then New York is your place to be.  If you’re ever in New York, let me know and we’ll people watch together.  I’ll bring the sandwiches and cocktails.

The cocktail of choice for the summer is my Churro Cocktail.  I love churros yet they can be a little heavy in the belly, especially for summer.  I thought it would be a good idea to drink my churro and lighten it up a little for summer.  Lugging out the fryer and cooking a dough in the summer time in a little apartment with no air conditioning.  Not the best idea.  The oven in my apartment is like a jet engine. Damn does that thing ever get my apartment so hot.

A nice cold, refreshing cocktail where the glass is sweating as much as I am is my favorite kind of summer.

Anyone up for a Mexico trip?  Just thought I would throw that out there.  I’m always down for a Mexico trip.  Any Mexico destinations you recommend?

If you’re a fan of churros, alcohol and summer.  Then this drink is just right for you.  Rumchata is my new go to for coffee and such.  I used to be and still am a Baileys person but this Rumchata knocks out all the sadness in me.  It’s similar to Baileys consistency wise but more of a flavor thing to it and it doesn’t overpower as much as Baileys.  I love Baileys but Baileys can take over way to easy.  It’s like that person you work with that has to be the center of every conversation and just when everyone was having a good time you disband because they are too much.  That can be Baileys and the coworker. Rumchata is the way to go.

Rumchata with the addition of more rum and I threw in Butterscotch Schnapps for a sweetener enforcement.  The Butterscotch Schnapps gives you that caramel kick that you would expect inside a churro.  I rimmed the glass with a little cinnamon sugar which of course is always optional but so is wiping your ass and I hope you don’t opt out of doing that.

Summer is here and not for long so let’s get to drinking’ and living in the sun while it’s here.

Have a great week everyone and see you next Tuesday!
