Toffee Malt Cookies

If you’re not familiar with malt.  Familiarize yourself with it.  Just not here.  I’m not going to go into detail as to what it is or how it came about.  Because I’m not sure myself and every time I try to tell you people something I get that one asshole emailing me telling, “That’s not true.”  They have nothing else better to do than sit on the internet and tell people they’re wrong.  

They also fail to give me facts as to why I’m wrong.

I love malt in recipes.  It gives a nutty brown sugary richness to desserts that you don’t know exactly what you’re liking but you do.  But it’s not that Ovaltine flavored shit.  I hate Ovaltine.  Never understood Ovaltine.  What I understand even less is when you mention you like chocolate milk and someone says, “Have you tried Ovaltine?”  Yeah, yeah I have asshole and it’s not even close to chocolate milk.  Please, don’t put Ovaltine and legit chocolate milk in the same category.  This is my Dad.  He loves Ovaltine.

Moving along.  Remember the Skor candy bar?  When I was a kid, I used to eat these things like tomorrow wasn’t showing up. I couldn’t get enough of these damn things.  I was also 325 pounds.  But they were way better than Heath bars.  I thought Skor was a thing of the past.  I Yahooed it and they are still around.  Are you as excited as I am?  If you’re not familiar.  Go get you a Skor bar and some malt and get ready to live.

I know when you make the cookies it seems Heath Candy Crunch is the only thing available in bits for the cookies.  And thats OK.  We are not going to let that upset us because it’s not really going to affect the recipe whatsoever.

I bought my bag of Malted Milk Crunch at a baker store back in Ohio.  They didn’t have it last time I was there and I was just Yahooing it and it seems most sites are out of stock.  I don’t know what this means.  I found only one site that still has it.  Hurry and get you your Malted Milk Crunch.  I have quite a following (We’re talking like 25 people-Eat your heart out Martha) so you might want to hurry.

These cookies are the thin but chewy gooey kind.  They are a bit sweet with the toffee crunch and finish with the malty brown sugary flavor.  I really think you will enjoy them as I really have.

Toffee Malt Cookies

185g               butter
120g               brown sugar
230g               sugar
28g                 maple syrup
3 whole         eggs
350g               flour
5g                   baking soda
5g                   salt
75g                Heath candy crunch bits
75g                Malted Milk Crunch

-cream butter, sugar, brown sugar and maple syrup with a paddle on high until light and fluffy.  About 5 minutes.
-add your eggs and mix on medium until mix comes back together 
-add your flour, baking soda and salt.  mix until mix forms a smooth dough. 
-add your Heath bits and malted milk crunch and combine just until bits are mixed throughout.  Do not over mix! 
Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.  Makes approximately 30 cookies.
